Nice guy, but his check rides are LONG and he will scrutinize the logbooks very carefully, so it would be best to have your mechanic at the ready. He is difficult to get ahold of and to reschedule with, but if you can get a date, your maintenance records are airtight, and you feel very ready, he is a great examiner to use. He cares about your success and wants you to pass. I do think a lot of the time spent in the oral is just about him trying to find the gaps in your knowledge and wants to see that you are knowledgeable about the “why” behind things. You will walk away with a few things to work on regardless of how well you do, which can be very humbling and very helpful.
