Dr. Mark Stephen Holcomb

Doctor Mark Stephen Holcomb is a pilot himself. The office setting at Choice Physicians Group in Overland Park, Kansas put me at ease as its lively colors, comfortable furniture, and relaxed style were different than from a typical sterile medical office environment. The ladies that greeted me in the lobby were polite and helpful with the brief in-processing questions. A water cooler was available for me in the lobby to prepare for the urinalysis. Dr. Holcomb's demeanor was calm and polite. He and his staff worked efficiently. Once in the examination room for my First Class Medical Certificate, I handed him my documents and another staff member began their examination of me while Dr. Holcomb asked me questions. Dr. Holcomb was to the point in a polite, courteous, and on-topic way. Additionally, he shared valuable information about his role as an intermediary to the FAA's Regional Flight Surgeon in the event I have medical issues that may be handled with a Flight Surgeon's guidance instead of the bureaucratic machine at the FAA's headquarters in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This was great knowledge that I was unaware of, and I'm glad Dr. Holcomb took the time to share. There was nothing during my visit with Dr. Holcomb that felt uneasy. I recommend him to someone needing an AME.
