Ben York

I’ve sent many students to Ben in the past year. He’s tough on the applicants but is probably the most genuine examiner I’ve worked with. He’s really invested in assuring applicants have good decision making skills and that they won’t make mistakes that would get them into trouble or get them hurt. He’s not so worried about nickel and dime-ing numeric standards in the ACS as he is about the big picture, assuring applicants are safe and competent. He wants the applicants to succeed and to go on to live long successful careers as pilots. He’s very active in the local pilot community, and has a wide range of experience in many different sectors of aviation, such as charter, airlines, firefighting, racing, and warbird flying. Highly recommend reading his book before a Checkride with him, it really helps applicants see what to expect before going into it, and it helps them realize he’s just a normal guy.
